The Marin San Quentin 2 in Fade Blue (Large/29") is a high-performance hardtail built for aggressive trail riding. Designed with "Dirt Jump DNA," it features a slack 64° head tube angle and a steep 77° seat tube angle, balancing stable, confident descending with efficient climbing.

Key Technical Specifications

  • Frame: Series 3 6061 Aluminum with a 12x148mm Boost Thru-Axle, providing a stiffer, more durable rear end than the San Quentin 1.
  • Fork: X-Fusion Slide Boost RC, 140mm travel. This is an air-sprung fork with adjustable compression and rebound, allowing for a much more precise setup.
  • Drivetrain: Shimano Deore 1x11-Speed (some regional versions use Shimano CUES). It includes an 11-51T cassette, giving you an ultra-wide range for tackling the steepest climbs.
  • Brakes: Tektro M535 4-Piston Hydraulic Disc, 180mm rotors. The 4-piston design offers significantly more "bite" and modulation for aggressive riding.
  • Dropper Post: TranzX YSP18 with 170mm travel, allowing you to get the saddle completely out of the way for descents and jumps.
  • Tires: Vee Tire Co. Flow Snap, 29" x 2.6", providing high-volume cushioning and aggressive side knobs for cornering grip.

Why Choose the San Quentin 2?

  • The "Sweet Spot" Spec: It bridges the gap between the entry-level 1 and the pro-level 3. You get the essential "real trail bike" features: an air fork, thru-axles, 4-piston brakes, and a dropper post.
  • Aggressive Capability: While many hardtails are designed for "Cross Country" (racing on flatter terrain), the San Quentin is designed for "All-Mountain" use. It's just as comfortable in a bike park as it is on a local forest loop.
  • 29er Roll-Over: The 29" wheels provide a "planted" feel. They carry momentum better through rock gardens and over roots, making this version slightly faster and more forgiving on rougher trails than the 27.5" model.
