The Red Carey Special is a variation on the classic Carey Special pattern. Anglers tend to see the best success fishing this pattern on a spey rod and swinging it through riffles and runs. The red material that this pattern is tied with makes it appear like many different forms of food to the fish. This fly can imitate small trout and various insects including the Baetis nymphs.
